This August, Ultimate’s Brand and Partnerships Manager, Natalie Whittaker, will walk 82 miles from Birmingham Children’s Hospital to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to raise money for Cure Leukaemia’s ATICUS Network.
Beginning in Birmingham on 21 August 2026, Nat will spend four days trekking through Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, Congleton and Wilmslow before reaching Manchester, carrying everything she needs on her back and camping along the route.
Every mile is helping fund pioneering research that gives children with blood cancer access to life-saving clinical trials.

After helping launch the charity’s new brand and website, we’ve committed to raising £10,000 each year as part of Club 10, supporting research that changes the lives of children and their families.
From Christmas concerts and 10Ks to cycling 66 miles around Loch Ness, our team has taken on some incredible fundraising challenges. This summer, Nat wanted to do something even bigger — walking 82 miles across the country to raise important funds.

ATICUS (Accelerating Trials in Children Undergoing Stem Cell Transplant) is the world’s first national infrastructure dedicated to stem cell transplant trials for children with blood cancer.
The network brings together 11 leading children’s hospitals across the UK, ensuring young patients who have reached the extent of the NHS’s offering can access a further stage of innovative treatments and clinical trials that could save their lives.

Walking from Birmingham to Manchester is the perfect journey. It connects two hospitals at the heart of the ATICUS Network, starts in the home of Cure Leukaemia’s headquarters, and finishes in Manchester, where Ultimate is based.
Day One – Start at Birmingham Children’s Hospital – 22 miles
Day Two – 21 miles
Day Three – 25 miles
Day Four – End at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital – 14 miles
