A family-run business with ten holiday parks across Wales, Cheshire and Yorkshire, the Thornley family pride themselves on offering welcoming, high-quality holiday experiences that generations of families return to year after year. Their strong family heritage and personal touch set them apart from larger, corporate competitors.

A key consideration was the existing logo, which holds sentimental value for the Thornley family. As a symbol of their heritage and connection to the local landscapes, the website look and feel needed to be designed around it.

THE BRIEF

Thornley Leisure Parks approached us to refresh and revitalise their website, creating a more engaging, aspirational and seamless experience for both holidaymakers and prospective owners.

The goals were to –

  • Increase online bookings and ownership enquiries
  • Strengthen brand recognition
  • Ensure the website better reflects the quality and warmth of the Thornley experience.

WEB REDESIGN

We designed a modern, visually rich website that celebrated the individuality of each park while uniting them under the Thornley Leisure Parks brand.

The new site brought the parks to life through high-quality imagery, video, and storytelling, allowing users to imagine their perfect getaway and showcasing the stunning locations that make Thornley so special!

FUNCTIONALITY AND INTEGRATIONS

We overhauled the website’s booking journey to make it faster, simpler and more intuitive, integrating new functionality that elevated both the user and admin experience. The site was built on WordPress with custom post types for parks, ownership, accommodation and offers, allowing the Thornley team to easily manage and update content across their ten parks.

A new holiday and ownership search tool was developed to filter results based on user preferences and booking restrictions, streamlining the path to enquiry or purchase. The booking system was connected with Thornley’s third-party provider, CompSol, to handle live availability and pricing, while the payment process was integrated with WorldPay’s eCommerce gateway to support Apple Pay and Google Pay.

We also implemented HubSpot CRM integration to capture leads more effectively, improved data tracking and SEO, and incorporated Google Reviews and a new interactive map to showcase the teams’ exciting locations. Together, these enhancements created a robust, insight-driven platform that supports Thornley’s long-term growth and delivers a smooth experience for users and the Thornley team alike.
